Background: Amalthea knows nothing about herself before she was found at the age of 15 completely naked and unconscious in the woods by a kind Irish woman named Mary Grue and her neighbor, a wizard named Schmendrick. The young Schmendrick was the one who gave her the name Amalthea, after the foster mother of the Greek god Zeus whose name means "tender goddess", and Amalthea still boards with Mary Grue today. Not long after they discovered her, Mary Grue and Schmendrick found that Amalthea had a gift for magic when she accidentally stretched her arms to reach the family kitten stuck on the roof of Mary Grue's house. Once sent to St. Mungo's to resize her limbs, Amalthea was immediately sent to Hogwarts despite her age and is being rushed through course materials very quickly in an attempt to put her at the same level as her classmates.

Amalthea is a vegan; she eats no meat or animal products, since she thinks eating things that come from other living things is barbaric. Amalthea does best in Care of Magical Creatures (where many creatures have taken an odd liking to her), Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts. She has, however, always had trouble with Transfiguration. The only clue to who she could've been before she was Amalthea...is a strange attachment to unicorns, a vague distrust of men and strange dreams that haunt her almost every night.

=Humble Hufflepuff Housemates=

Ran clover_tea: First housemate that Amalthea met over the journals and the first person to offer to help Amalthea study for some of her classes.

Mytho magicalmophead: Second housemate Amalthea met over the journals. Mytho was very welcoming to Amalthea and made her feel a bit more comfortable at Hogwarts, so Amalthea gets the impression that Mytho dislikes it when people are alone or upset. Mytho is one of the few men that was very friendly to her upon first meeting her but she never had any doubt in trusting.

Ahiru sonenschein: Another Hufflepuff fifth year and one of Amalthea's dormmates. The two were originally acquainted with each other through Mytho; Amalthea finds Ahiru to be a very sweet and caring person, and gets the impression that they have a bit in common. Due to her having difficulty with her name, Ahiru calls Amalthea "Amal-chan" for short.

=Other Companions in Other Houses=

Chizuru chizuru_chan: A fellow fifth year who offered to help Amalthea study for her classes. Chizuru has made Amalthea wonder more about her background since she commented that appearing from nowhere could be very possible, and that chain of thought greatly bothers Amalthea. Yet Amalthea feels trust toward Chizuru; she admires her confidence and kindness.

Ofelia crescent_mark: Amalthea and Ofelia met over the journals, and thus far they're very good friends. Amalthea is very charmed by Ofelia's friend (a little stick insect that has been her friend since she first came to Hogwarts), having never encountered such a creature before. Amalthea thinks Ofelia is a very curious, very imaginative girl who hasn't yet given up on her dreams of childhood, and that such a trait is admirable.

Fakir wizard_knight: A friend of Mytho's and Ahiru's that Amalthea met through the journals. They met while Fakir was under the influence of a potion that turned him into a child, and Amalthea showed him sympathy despite her vague amusement toward the situation. Even as a child, Amalthea could see Fakir is someone who is very sure of himself and his beliefs.

Walter smokesyoass: Walter seems like someone that Amalthea wouldn't easily make friends with, and at first Amalthea was very suspicious of him, but now they have a reasonably good friendship through their conflicting personalities. Amalthea thinks he's abrupt and rough, but trustworthy.

Pique germanwitch: Another of those that offered to study with Amalthea upon first meeting her. Amalthea finds her to be a very friendly and cheerful person.

Mikage sacred_delusion: Mikage at first intimidated Amalthea due to his initial rush of kindness upon their first meeting over the journals. Mikage, however, is very insightful, as well as empathetic, and soothed her concerns. Amalthea very much admires his sympathy and desire to help others, and finds him to be a very noble person to wish to help people the way he does through his seminars.

=Staff=

Gai proudgreenauror: The first staff member that Amalthea encountered over the journals. Amalthea can tell Gai is a very enthusiastic and happy person. She almost automatically feels trust toward him, but that's mostly because he's a member of the school staff.

Drosselmeyer herrnarrator: Amalthea enjoys Drosselmeyer's class (Magic in Literature), but is wary of Drosselmeyer himself after his assessment of her eyes being oddly "empty." She finds him eccentric and tries to avoid his company, not feeling any trust toward him at all.
